If your student has started some assignments in a course in Monarch Classic and you want them to finish the course in the new platform, it is possible but there are some things to consider first. This article walks you through these considerations and then provides the steps for moving a course that is in progress over to the new platform.

Note
For guidance on the following scenarios, reference Transitioning to new Monarch: Starting new courses:
- Student has completed all courses in Monarch Classic and we want to start brand new courses in the new platform.
- Student is still finishing courses in Monarch Classic but we also want to start some new courses in the new platform.
Before you begin
Before beginning the process to transition your student’s courses, review the following scenarios carefully to determine if they apply to you.
| Consideration | Action to take |
|---|---|
| Retired or rewritten courses |
The following courses have been retired or significantly rewritten. It is strongly recommended that you finish these courses in Monarch Classic. If you choose to move forward, it’s important to note that the scope and sequence is drastically different. You may need to spend more time reviewing the content to determine what to assign/unassign.

| Individual course subscriptions |
If you have purchased individual course subscriptions for any of the following courses, you must reach out to customer service in order to be able to assign the course in the new platform. If you have a Full Access subscription, you will have access.

Moving in-progress courses to the new platform
If you have reviewed the considerations above still want to move ahead, follow these steps.
Note
It is easiest if you transition your student at the end of a unit. If you wish to transition mid-unit you will need to complete the following steps at the assignment level.
-
Download the Monarch course tracking template and note the student's name and Monarch Classic course title at the top.
Note
You will use the completed template again when you are calculating the course grade after your student has completed their course, so hold on to it.
-
Note the unit titles and Weighted Grade (percentage) for completed units in Monarch Classic.
To find this information:- Log in to Monarch Classic.
- Access Assigned Work for your student and select the course you wish to review.
- Click each unit under the course to find the unit's Weighted Grade.
- In Monarch Classic, unassign the units that your student has not worked on yet. (This is so that your student doesn't accidentally complete the work there).
- Review the Monarch course updates list to identify whether the course title changed. If it has, note the title of the new course for reference.
- Assign the new course to your student in the new Monarch platform. To do this:
- In the new Monarch platform, using the list you created in step 2 above, unassign the units that have already been completed.
- Students can now work on the course in the new Monarch platform. To access the new platform:
- Have your student log in through the Monarch Classic url: https://monarch-app.aop.com/ as usual.
- Have your student switch to the new Monarch platform to access their new courses.
Calculating the course grade
After the student has finished their course that was started in the Monarch Classic platform and completed in the new one, use the following steps to calculate the course grade.
- Locate the template that you created in step 1 above.
- On the template, note the units completed in the new platform:
- Log in to the new Monarch platform.
- On the dashboard, select the applicable course tile.
- Review the completed units.
- Note the percent correct score for each unit completed in the new platform. All grading tasks must be completed in order to produce a score.
- Add the scores for all units, including units from Monarch Classic and the new platform. Enter the total in the Sum of Unit % Scores row.
- Determine the total number of units and enter the total in the Number of Units row.
- Divide the Sum of Unit % Scores by the Number of Units to get the Course Grade. You can save the score for your records.
