Courses page overview

 Note

Monarch is a web application that can be used on a browser on any device. To account for the smaller screen real estate on mobile devices, Monarch's menus are tucked away so that you can more easily view what's currently on your screen. To view tips for navigating Monarch on a mobile device, reference Using Monarch on a mobile device.

On the courses page, you can:

  • Manage assignments.
  • Grade assignments.

Accessing the Courses page

  1. On the left navigation, click Courses.

  2. On the top menu, click a student's name.

  3. On the left navigation of the Courses page, click a school year.

 Tip

If you are using a mobile device, the menus are tucked away to give you more room to work. Throughout this procedure, you can use the following at the top of the screen:

  • Back arrow lets you return to the previous page.
  • Drop-down menus allow you to toggle among students and courses.
  • Actions button gives you access to the Course Options menu.

Features of the Courses page

The following are the features of the Courses page:

Feature Description
Selected student The selected student's name is underlined in the top menu. To view the Courses page for another student, click their name.
Course structure Access a list of your student's courses on the left navigation. Click the arrows to drill down and view the course structure by school year, course, and unit.
Courses pane

The same courses that display on the left navigation are also available on the Courses pane. Click a course card to view the course structure. Click it again to drill down by unit. Select the card of an assignment (for example, lesson, quiz, test) to take action on the assignment.

 Tip

If you are using a mobile device, only the Course Cards display. To view the Course Structure, click the School Year drop-down menu. To view tips for navigating Monarch on a mobile device, reference Using Monarch on a mobile device.

Unit card

  Feature Description
1 Unit number Number of the unit in the course.
2 Unit name Title of the unit. Click to view assignment cards for that unit.
3 Status

Status of the unit:

  • On schedule
  • Behind schedule
  • Needs grading
  • Not assigned
  • Not started
  • Complete
4 Grade - Percentage Grade scored on the unit in percentage format.
5 Grade - Letter Grade scored on the unit in letter format.
6 Progress bar Displays the percentage of assigned assignments that are complete in the unit.
7 Action buttons

Click to take action. Varies by the status of the assignment:

  • Assign
  • Edit schedule
  • Unassign

  Feature Description
1 Assignment type Types of assignments include lesson, project, quiz, test, and resource.
2 Assignment name Title of the assignment. Click to view more information.
3 Status

Status of the assignment:

  • Locked (An assignment has been assigned, but a previous assignment needs to be completed before the student can start working on it.)
  • Needs grading
  • Not assigned
  • Overdue
  • Complete
4 Grade Grade scored on the assignment in percentage format.
5 Score Number of correct answers out of number of total answers.
6 Completed date Date the student completed the assignment.
7 Action buttons

Click to take action. Varies by the status of the assignment:

  • Assign
  • View
  • Reset
  • Edit schedule
  • Unassign
