Managing academic settings

Use the steps in this article to modify your students' grading scale and grade weights.

 Note

Monarch is a web application that can be used on a browser on any device. To account for the smaller screen real estate on mobile devices, Monarch's menus are tucked away so that you can more easily view what's currently on your screen. Managing grading scale and grade weights

  1. Access the Managment page.
  2. Click Manage Academic Settings.

  3. The Manage Academic Settings page displays. You can click the info icon to learn more about what grading scale and grade weights are.

    From here, you can change the grading scale and grade weights for each of your students.

Change grading scale

  1. For the applicable student, click Change grading scale.

  2. The grade scales for the student display. The default grading scale is located at the top of the page. Grading scales for individual courses are listed below it.

  3. You can choose to update the default grade scale to impact all courses, or you can update each course grade scale one by one. Click the applicable Edit scale button.

  4. Update the grade scale as desired. If you want to restore the default settings, you can click Reset to default.

  5. If you are editing the student's default grading scale and you want the changes to only apply to future course assignments:
    •  Click the checkbox.

    • On the pop-up message that displays, click Apply.

  6. For edits to the default grading scale and individual course grading scales, click Save Changes.

 Success

The student's grading scale is updated. A message briefly displays at the bottom of the screen to confirm the update.

If you have customized the grading scale for an individual course, a note displays next to the name of the course.

Change grade weights

  1. For the applicable student, click Change grade weights.

  2. The grade weights for the student display. The default grade weights are located at the top of the page. Grade weights for individual courses are listed below it.

  3. You can choose to update the default grade weights to impact all courses, or you can update each course's grade weights one by one. Click the applicable Edit weights button.

  4. Update the grade weights as desired. The total must equal 100%.  If you want to restore the default settings, you can click Reset to default.

  5. If you are editing the student's default grade weights and you want the changes to only apply to future course assignments:
    1.  Click the checkbox.

    2. On the pop-up message that displays, click Apply.

  6. For edits to the default grade weights and individual course grade weights, click Save Changes.

 Success
