Grade scale
The grade scale is as follows:
- A = 90% (and above)
- B = 80% – 89%
- C = 70% – 79%
- D = 60% – 69%
- F= Below 60%
Grade weights
Course and unit scores are calculated using the following default activity grade weights:
- Tests: 50%
- Quizzes: 25%
- Projects: 20%
- Lessons: 5%
If a unit or course doesn’t have one of the activity types listed above, that percentage of the grade is equally distributed across the other categories.
How grades are calculated
Grades are calculated separately for each assignment category (tests, quizzes, projects, lessons).
- The points earned in each category are divided by the total points possible for that category to determine the category score.
- Each category score is multiplied by its assigned weight. (See Grade weights above).
- The weighted category scores are added together to calculate the final grade.
Unit grades vs. course grades
A unit grade is calculated using only the assignments within that specific unit.
A course grade is calculated using all assignments across all units in the course. Because course grades include assignments from every unit, the course grade may be different from any individual unit grade.
Grade threshold
Scores of 80% (and below) display in red on assignment cards. Scores above 80% display in black.
